Hardy, as he is affectionately known by friends, grew up in Ilford (part of Greater London), Essex in England. Hardy attended the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Dental Hospital and School in Scotland, graduating with his BDS in 1995 (this, to some extent, explains his “accent”). After attending an externship in Hong Kong in 1994, he published a paper in The British Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in 1996 on asymptomatic impacted wisdom teeth. As a dentist, he worked in Basildon (Essex), East Ham (London), and Harrow (London). After visiting family in Vancouver in 1988, he fell in love with Canada and became determined to one day work here. This goal was ultimately fulfilled after gaining his DMD at UBC Dental School in 2001. Special interests in Implants, TMD ( Gneuromuscular Dentistry), Sleep Apnea, Complex Restorative, Cosmetics, and Invisalign have kept his Continuing Education program filled with advanced courses.
His treatment goal and philosophy is to provide well educated decisions alongside his patients to improve not only their dental health but overall physical health. By carefully aligning his patient’s needs towards ideal dental health, a unique and rewarding partnership is formed in the common road to dental fitness. He strives to provide a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere to all he is honoured to serve. He cares not only about the smile, but more importantly the person behind the smile. He will always have a warm welcoming positive energy and attitude ready and waiting for you. Hardy is the proud father of 3 young children. His wife is an elementary school teacher who works in the Surrey school district. Hardy enjoys technology, reading non-fiction and computers. His spare time currently is focused on his young family. He enjoys traveling and learning about new cultures, historical artefacts, listening to music (especially British 80s!), and loves engaging with people. Once in a while he might bust a move on the dance floor
Heidi is our treatment coordinator and team leader at Smiling Creek Dental. Heidi was first introduced to us as a patient; little did we realize she would eventually become a team member. She began her career in the dental field back in August 2021. She has previously worked as a Certified Medical Office Assistant and has found a love for the dental world. She finds joy in the ability to serve, support and share the knowledge she has with our patients here at Smiling Creek Dental in order for them to feel their very best. In Heidi’s free time, she enjoys all things outdoors such as: hiking, camping and playing soccer.
Ana has been working in the Dental field as a Certified Dental Assistant since her graduation from CDI College in 2010 and looks forward to adding to her skills with continuing education in the ever-changing Dental field. Having grown up in Romania where dentistry is still striving to reach western standards, she’s always valued the importance of a positive dental experience. This is why she works to create a calm and enjoyable overall experience. Outside of work, Ana is a busy mom of a wonderful little girl and her fur baby Remy. Ana enjoys camping, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Karen is one of our Rockstar Hygienists, who has been apart of our team for over 35 years! She is super dedicated to providing the best care for all of her patients. She also brings so much energy to the office, she helps to make our days bright! In her spare time, Karen enjoys jogging in the trails, and golfing on sunny days. Karen would like to continue to bring positivity to the wonderful people she meets and serves. She really does love her patients, and the team here, she appreciates the friendly relationships that have been formed over the years.
Danielle is originally from Ontario, and moved to BC after completing her dental schooling. She graduated in 2006 from Georgian College, and has been pursuing new experiences in her dental career ever since. She has worked up north with a periodontist as well as a clinical instructor at the dental hygiene college. Danielle lives in Coquitlam with her partner, their son, and their two fluffy cats. Danielle is a gentle but thorough hygienist who focuses on patient education. She loves working in the dental field, and is always looking for new ways to make our office better for our patients. She strives to make the dental chair a comfortable place for all, those with anxiety, or small kids. On her weekends she loves to spend time with friends, read, plan vacations, and workout.
Yana is one of our most recent additions to our Smiling Creek Dental team, and she is so thrilled to be with us! Yana graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a bachelor in Science in Chemistry and worked as a chemist, but as time went by the passion towards dentistry increased and so, she went back to school to become a Dental Hygienist. Her favourite part about being in Dentistry is educating her patients and providing the feeling of a fabulous smile! When Yana is not at work, you can find her spending time with her family hiking, biking, and travelling.
